Funny Things

Hello my beautiful people. I know I have been absent for a while and for that I am truly sorry. Believe me I have been wanting to sit down and write about a million things but its so hard to find the time. When I do find the time I'm so exhausted that I don't even want to move let alone write for two hours. Just being honest here.

I'm very picky about my writing. I like for it be perfect and unrushed. I can't tell you how many unfinished posts I have saved in drafts on Blogger. They haven't been published because they aren't up to my standards or they seem to be missing something that I can't quite figure out. I'm saying all of that to say this: I beg of you, please hang in there with me. I promise it'll get better. I love this little blog and one day, when I can afford it, I want to grow it. I want this to be a completely honest and safe place for me to write and for people to feel comfortable reading and responding to me. Just give me time.

That being said. I am actually going to write a full post today. In fact, its time for another installment of the funny things that go on in my apartment. If you missed the first post like this, you can find it here.

Let me start by saying I am truly blessed to be able to be living with these amazing girls for the second year in row. They are my family and I wouldn't trade them for anything. Also they are pretty freaking hilarious. Let me share with you some more recent hilarious things that have happened since the last post.

So last time I did this, I featured mostly Mackenzie because its usually me and her that are the ones chilling around the apartment. Well, this time I am proud to bring you more sayings by Kenz but also some hilarious things that Sarah Beth or SB has said. If you don't laugh at these things, you need to go get your funny bone checked. Like seriously.

Sarah Beth, me, Mackenzie
Let's start with Mackenzie. So one night, me and Kenz are chilling on the couch and this annoying thing keeps popping up on my computer so finally I say something about it. The following conversation happens and yes guys, she went there.

Me: UGH! I'm tired of this thing popping up.
Kenz: That's what he said.

Kenz and I have this habit of SnapChatting each other while we are in the same room. I mean like we get serious about it y'all, complete with pillows to hide the horrendous pictures we send each other. (SnapChat post coming soon maybe? Stay tuned.) So we are having one of those nights where we decide it is more fun to SnapChat each other than it is to talk and the following happens:

*send Kenz a SnapChat*
Kenz: You're nose looks huge!
Me: Oh my gosh, it does!
Kenz: Like a big bratwurst.
Oh gee thanks Kenz...

I'm actually not sure what the context of this conversation was, but it still makes me laugh.

Kenz: Two in one day. We're on a roll.
Me: If that's what you wanna call it.
Kenz: Fine. We're on a biscuit. Is that better?

And the last thing from Kenz is probably one of my favorite things she's ever said to me.

Kenz: They say smoke follows beauty, maybe farts do too.

So yeah that's Kenz for ya. I love her to death. She definitely always makes me laugh. I can't believe she will be getting married in like FOUR MONTHS! AHHHH! But anyway let's see some of the crazy things that SB has said. She is the queen of one liners so I'm just going to throw them at y'all. Enjoy.

You can lick your neighbor.

Laughing out your butthole over there.

I peed so hard I laughed my pants.

Clearly I have some hilarious roommates. I love them both dearly. Well, I'm officially on fall break now. So I'm going to continue to lay around and do nothing. I hope you all have a fabulous day.

All my love, Carly ♥

Vacay Troubles

Hey there friends! I bet you're wondering why I'm posting in the middle of the day instead of being on the beach soaking up the rays. Well let me tell you why!

So yesterday started off rainy and cloudy but we went on out to le beach anyway!

So we got out there and it seriously looked like it was going to pour rain so my sister and I took our beach pictures then went ahead and hopped in the water just in case we needed to scadaddle on a moments notice!

So hopping in the water obviously washed all our sunscreen off. (I put on 50 yesterday because I'm so pale and never get out in the sun.) So I decided not to reapply at that very moment. BIG MISTAKE NUMERO UNO!

I reapplied once during the 4ish hours we were out there. But I never flipped. Didn't feel like laying on my tummy! BIG MISTAKE NUMERO DOS!

I did wear a hat most of the day which was probably the only smart thing I did yesterday. So we came back inside and I hopped on the shower and the only thing that looked burnt was me chest. I of course thought to myself 'Score! Maybe you won't be a lobster at the beach for once in your life!' I was wrong. Oh so wrong.

Guys! My chest is burnt. Tops of my arms and shoulders are burnt. Tops of legs up to hips are burnt. MY KNEE CAPS ARE BURNT. The side of my lower right leg is burnt. Both sides of my neck are burnt up to my ears. And half my stomach is burnt.

Needless to say, I'm in a little bit of pain and I'm not facing the sun today. As much as I miss the ocean right now, I know I made the right choice. So that's all I have. There are a few pictures at the bottom of the post from yesterday.

**Be sure to check back tomorrow! My girl Hayley from A Beautiful Exchange is guest posting for me.**

With love, Carly ♥

An Adventure and A Post About Fatherly Love

Hey there friends! So I have two things for y'all today! First off, Kenz and I decided to get outta da house today and go do something fun before the rain comes back. So we went to a place called Hebron Rock Colony or more specifically Hebron Falls to hike and lay out in da sunnn! It was super fun and relaxing. I love that place and it's probably one of my favorite places to hike and chill. We saw like 3 people almost get overtaken by the falls, but thankfully no one did. On the way home we stopped and got icees from Burger King. They were deee-lishhhh. (There are more pictures but I'm not feeling a photo dump today. sorry not sorry. I'm exhausted.)
chillinggg. love her :)

For the last part of the post I'm going to talk about my daddy. Since I'm not going home to spend Father's Day with him, I thought I would honor him on here.

I love my Daddy. He's taught me so much in my 20 (almost 21) years. So let me share a few of the biggies with you.

My daddy taught me:

1. How to change oil in a car. I know that doesn't sound all that big, but if you've ever been away from home when you need an oil change and have no money to get it done, it's extremely important to know how to do it yourself. So I'm glad he taught me how to do. To be honest, he taught me a lot about cars and I'm so glad. I love cars and a lot of that comes from time spent with him working on them.

2. How to stand up for myself. I used to picked on when I was younger because my last name is Parrott. Kids would always be like "Carly want a cracker?" I was such a sensitive little human that it would make me cry sometimes. So my dad told me to start saying, "Yes I do, do you have one?" That made them stop for sure. They would just look at me like I was crazy.

3. How to be tough. I know this seems really similar to the one above but it's really not. I promise. I used to
cry a lot about the stupidest things. Like if i got rug burn, I cried. No seriously. I was (am?) a wimp when
it came to intense physical pain. So like if I stubbed my toe walking through the house, I would shout and cry, and assume the fetal position. My dad is infamous for laughing at people when they fall. He laughs before he even checks on them. It's not nice. But in a weird way it taught me to be tougher. Kinda so it wouldn't make him laugh. But mostly it helped me see that life is unpredictable and mean so sometimes you just have to laugh. Weird how my brain works sometimes.

4. What a real Godly man, husband, and father look like. My dad is crazy, hilarious, and brutally honest, but he is also understanding, loving, and Godly. I respect him so much. He is an amazing person. It's so hard to put into words. I am very blessed to have him as my earthly father. Like father like daughter.

5. About people. Probably the biggest thing that my daddy taught me had to do with people. I hold this piece of advice extremely close to my heart. I remind myself all the time. When I was in high school, I went through a few rough patches. One night when I was a senior, I was talking to the parentals about my current issue and my dad says to me, "People are going to disappoint you. God made them that way. 99% of the population are self-centered, selfish, and it's all about what they want. You have to realize this, know how people are, and move on." That's some of the best advice I've ever gotten.

So all in all I'd say I have a pretty great father. But he has a pretty awesome daughter too.

Enjoy Father's Day tomorrow peeps. See ya lataaaa.

With love, Carly ♥

I suck.

Yes, I know I suck right now. I haven't the blogger I should be. I just haven't been in the mood here recently. Which is craz-ay because last Saturday I planned out topics and jotted down notes for every blog post this week. But obviously that didn't happen. I don't know what it is, but I am just not in the mood right now.

Even though I don't really feel like talking about anything of substance, I will give you some pictures and updates since the last time we talked.

Saturday, I didn't do anything. Sorry. It was Saturday, what do you expect?!

On Sunday, I went to Kenz's family reunion...which is one of many that they hold during the year on both sides of her family. Seriously, her family is huge. Love it. Oh and the food is ALWAYS good. So here are a few pictures from that.

After the reunion, we had a scary movie marathon and it was fantastic!

Then Monday, I had class (BOO!) and then me and Kenz watched the series finale of The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Don't judge us. I will say that the finale sucked. No questions were answered and nothing was resolved. The producers were lazy and I am really thinking about writing a strongly worded letter to them. Okay moving on.

Yesterday we had class and I read the entire Hunger Games book in like 4 hours cause it's that good. I convinced Tim to ship me the second one that he already has so I don't have to buy it. Ain't he jsut a sweetheart?! Last night, we watched Army Wives for hours. Then I played with Kenz's hair. I did a waterfall braid then i curled it. Twas fun and I did pretty good. See:

Isn't her hair beautiful? I just love it.

Now it's today and I had a math test. Then I wrote a letter to Tim and got groceries. Now We are watching Army Wives and I'm writing this ridiculously boring post about my boring life. So if you stayed with me and read it till the end...kudos to you. I'll be back in my groove soon. Promise. Lataaaa!

5 Reasons Why I'm Obsessed With Grey's Anatomy

Yes friends, you read that correctly. Yes, I know this is weird. However, I don't care what you think (okay, that's not true, it was really just for effect. Sawy). Moving on, I LOVE GREY'S ANATOMY!!!!!!!! Like seriously, I'm obsessed. I have been for a good while now. I didn't start watching until this past season and I had to watch all the seasons before this one on Netflix (aka I have no life). Before I launch into my reasons why I love the show, let me tell you how I got hooked on it.

Tim and I are in love with the show Scrubs. Like in love. We sometimes talk to each other in Scrubs quotes. Its ridiculous and cheesy and we don't even care.

Scrubs is hilarious and emotional and has great music. So one night we are at his apartment (pre-move) watching Scrubs and he pauses it. Then he looks at me and says "If you love this show, I bet I could show you another one that you would love just as much." So me, being me, thinks he's crazy and tells him so. There's no way that I could love a show like I love Scrubs. BOY, was I wrong!!

Tim put on on the first episode EVER of Grey's Anatomy. I was instantly hooked. I watched EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. Well the ones that were on Netflix anyway. I'm trying to keep up with this season on now, but it's not working so well. Since I have school and stuff. But I WILL be caught back up soon! Anywhoz, let's get to why I love this show.

Reason #1: These two. ^^Meredith and Christina. They are best friends. Through everything. The quote on this picture is from the show. They are each other's person. No matter what. They go to hell and back, multiple times, together. They never leave each other's side. Guys, that is a real friendship. They are so awesome. I love them.

Reason #2: Meredith and Derek^^ Yeah I know, they are like the main couple, but come on! You can't help but love them. They make it through the inevitable and find each other time and time again. That's love. They are like magnets to each other. They attract each other no matter how much they try to fight it. (Side note: Not to spoil anything for you if you decide to watch it but they get married, adopt a baby girl, then have a kid of their own! AWESOME!)

Reason #3: SO. MANY. FEELS. I mean come on. Every episode is intense. I think of all the episodes I've seen, I have probably cried during over half of them. WHOA! And I hate to cry, so that's a big deal folks. But honestly. There is so much emotion packed into every episode. I love it and hate it all at once.

Reason #4:  There is great music. I know this one is weird but I come from a musical family. Music has always been a part of my life. The music in this show is never cheesy, it adds the perfect amount of whatever emotion is present. It's not overpowering. It's not too little. It's...perfect.

Reason #5: And my final reason is that this show is relatable (word? i have no clue). Obviously, not the being a surgeon part but every episode for the most part has life advice. Things you can relate to. Your grow attached to these people. They become a part of your life. (This is getting creepy right? Okay, you're right) I love this show because it does not create this magical world where everything is perfect. Lots of tragedies happen. Real life problems. People make mistakes. I have learned life lessons with this show. I love it.

Okay guys that's the best I can do in trying to explain why I love this show. I just love it, I can't help it. So now I'm going to hit publish and get back to watching it...again. See ya later tater :)

*What's your favorite show? Why?*

With love, Carly ♥!

Guest appearance! Hayley from A Beautiful Exchange!

Hey there bloggy world! So I have a real treat for you today! Instead of my boring post about my Sunday, I thought I would let you guys meet a great friend of mine. Her name is Hayley and she's a real peach! I'll let her tell you more! Take it away Hay...

Hi, About the Journey readers!!

My name is Hayley and I normally blog over here at A Beautiful Exchange, but Carly asked me to come chill with you guys today! I am a 20 year old mom of one, and I have been married for 18 months. It's crazy that we will be coming up on 2 years soon! Where in the world does time go? I really love experimenting with makeup, reading tons of good books, and getting lost in Target. My blog pretty much covers all of those things, plus anything else you can think of. I like to view my blog as all of my personal interests, hobbies, and family life all rolled into one! I love it that way, because that means more people can relate to me on different levels! I have done a few DIY things here and there and you can check them all out here. My personal story is on the blog here, and the love story with me and the hubs is here, for all you mushy gushy folks. If you love to read, like I do, you can find my (almost weekly) updates on What I've Been Reading. If you want to get overloaded with cuteness, you can read all about my family posts here! Make sure you come over and check out the blog, I know there's something you can relate to!

The little dude. Isn't he precious?!

So now that I have babbled your ear off about me and my blog, I thought I would share a little bit about why blogging is so great. In case you haven't figured it out for yourself, here's a few reasons:

You make great friends
I told my husband that I feel really lame whenever I say this to people about blogging. I guess it makes me feel like one of those people that sits in their house all day just talking to people that probably don't even exist in real life. I guess the difference for blogging is that the people that I "meet" on here give me quite a few glances into their real lives on their blogs! I know that they don't include everything, but I have made some great friends through opportunities that are out there for bloggers, as well as by just contacting someone I have things in common with!!

It's the age
Right now is the time to be a blogger. I mean, seriously. Everyone in the entire world is obsessed with social media. Those that aren't are at least (closet) reality tv junkies. People just naturally have a nosy tendency. How do you think all of the tabloids survive, people?

Memories
This is one of the main reasons I blog. I love that I can come to my blog and look back on almost every major memory that my family has made in the last few months. Some of Eli's milestones are recorded much better than they would be in some dusty baby book, plus, I get to share them with all of you!

An outlet
Blogging is something that is mine. I don't have to share my blog or my posts with anyone, but I choose to because of the community that is out there. It doesn't matter what you are going through, or what you are particularly interested in  (politics, DIY, makeup, books, product reviews, etc.) there is definitely a group of bloggers out there covering your likes! It really makes me feel great when I have people contact me saying that my story, or a post that I wrote, has truly impacted them! What an encouragement!!

So there are a few reasons why I love blogging! I did an entire post on why blogging is so darn awesome once, you can read that here. I hope you follow Carly, as I know she has a few awesome things up her sleeves! Also, make sure you follow A Beautiful Exchange on Bloglovin', Twitter, and Facebook! I would love to have you!!

OH DEAR! Wasn't that fun?! Now do what the lady says and go follow her blog! You know you want to! That's all I have for you guys today! Catch ya on the flip side!

With love, Carly ♥

Spontaneous Adventure Photo Dump

So originally I had planned to tell you a few funny stories from life in my apartment with my roommates BUT THEN I went on a spontaneous adventure with one of said roomies. She's not only my roommate, but also one of my best friends. Anyways, we are both in committed relationships that are currently long distance so when the weekend hits, we never have anything to do cuz we iz real lazy, on a daily basis. However, today we got tired of just sitting around so we hopped in her car and went for a drive and it was FABULOUS! SO here are a bunch of pictures from said adventure! Enjoy bloggy friends! :)

These are in no particular order btw :)

Doesn't that look fun?! It was great to get out and do something that was free, since neither of us have a job or money! Thanks for stopping by!
